A new Media Matters study finds that progressive religious leaders receive substantially less coverage than conservative leaders in media reports on politics. As a result, the media paint an inaccurate picture of views held by people of faith and support for the Democratic Party (and its principles) among members of a wide array of religious groups.
As an organization representing Jewish Democrats, NJDC has long held that the principles of the Democratic Party are more compatible with Jewish values than those of the Republicans. As Jews, we value Democrats' commitment to social justice, civil rights, education, protecting our natural environment, and caring for the most vulnerable in society (be they senior citizens who rely on Medicare, children who need school lunch programs to receive proper nutrition, or ethnic minorities whose civil rights and liberties are at risk). And, as supporters of Israel, we understand that energy independence is essential for Israel's safety and security.
