From John McCain’s website:
John McCain understands national security and the threats facing our nation. He recognizes the dangers posed by … violent Islamist extremists and their terrorist tactics, and the ever present threat of regional conflict that can spill into broader wars that endanger allies and destabilize areas of the world vital to American security
Yesterday, in Amman, Jordan, John McCain asserted that Iran is training al-Quaeda in Iraq. Can’t he get his violent Islamist extremists straight? It took a nudge and whisper from Senator Lieberman for Senator McCain to correct himself and state that the Iranians aren’t training al-Quaeda, but training extremists.
Now, this is a confusing part of the world – but the lynchpin of McCain’s campaign is his supposed foreign policy expertise. What other dubious assumptions underlie McCain’s assertion that we might have to stay in Iraq another 100 years?
