Sarah Palin has done much to foment hysteria and anger at Obama. To some degree this is her role as "attack dog," but she seems to have been so zealous in this as to veer out of control. For Jews this has been particularly problematic-- no one wants to support someone who Palin claims "pals"with terrorists and is distinctly alien and un-American.

To fend off these attacks ahead of time, you might want to explore the origins of Obama's name, which is rooted in Baruch (meaning "blessed" in Hebrew) rather than Barak (which means "lightning" in that same language). If you read "Barack, Thy name is Biblical," you will discover many historical, biblical, linguistic, and archeological reasons to think of Barack as having a rich, shared tradition with the rest of us:
