Congratulations to Al Gore and the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for jointly winning the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Their efforts to spread greater knowledge about the effects of man-made climate change are certainly commended and deserved the honor. Gore in a statement said he was "deeply honored ... We face a true planetary emergency. The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity."
Overall, as described by Martin Grosjean, head of the university's Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research, "Al Gore and this year's IPCC reports took the results of climate research to a whole new level that made them understandable for more people."
